Creag Bheag path at Taits Brae

Early progress today on the new path from Taits Brae leading up to Creag Bheag. This new route avoids the existing track which is currently more of a drain than a track.

Initially the existing surface vegetation layer is removed and replaced with a layer of “Type 1” aggregate. This is compressed with a “wacker plate”. A further layer of fine gravel is added on top (and compressed with the “wacker plate”). The resultant path should be weather resistant and much more comfortable to walk on.

Vehicles, horses and mountain bikes can continue to use the original track and leave the new path primarily for walkers.
