KCDC are delighted to have delivered this key civil project in collaboration with The Highland Council and Sustrans.
Particular thanks are due to The Highland Council’s Active Travel and Road Safety Teams who managed the programme of works.
Initially the idea was developed from Cycle Friendly Kingussie‘s initiative to help the town become safer for active travel whether it be walking or wheeling.
Having achieved a pavement and a clear route to and from the station to the town via the recently upgraded Gynack Gardens; the project also provides a sense of arrival for train travellers as well as necessary traffic calming at a very busy junction used by both Kingussie High School and Kingussie Primary School.
We are grateful to Strath Civil Engineering from Dingwall for their professional engagement and practice in delivering the project for the Town.
KCDC would also acknowledge the work done by TGP Landscape Architects in drawing up the plans and supporting the consultation phase.
Attracting the funding for the project is no mean feat for the Town and gaining inward investment in the current climate is a significant achievement.
Kenny Deans, KCDC director.
“It’s great to see the vision to improve this part of our town come to fruition, thanks to the collaborative efforts of all involved”.
Bob Kinnaird, KCDC director.
